The new technology allows passengers to pass through securely without placing their passport on a reader, making journeys up to 25% faster than using a passport at an eGate, while maintaining the UK's border security checks.  The system uses state-of-the-art facial technology to verify a passenger’s identity before border security checks are carried out in full. The gradual rollout has begun at East Midlands Airport and is the latest step in modernising the UK's border, helping legitimate travellers move through airports more smoothly and efficiently.
