I spoke with the breeder of that puppy! She was actually super sweet and nice and was happy to educate me. Avondale is a pretty reputable Lab breeder! Yeah, they're stupid for breeding their OOS Sire, but their pups and dams are usually very successful in the ring and in the field.

I have a funny story for something like this so this involves a veterinarian you’re gonna have to buckle your seatbelt for this one so the dog that I put in the picture that’s attached. I got when I was 18. She was supposed to be my service dog. she failed because she is was genetically aggressive towards dogs and other animals but the first time we brought her to the vet. The vet told us we’re gonna have to sit. She is a purebred Labrador that’s gonna grow in all of her black and the veterinarian was dead serious there was no sarcasm in the way they said that let’s just say I never went back to that office

We do use Embark and Wisdom. We just don't *only* use them. They offer a way to test for things our parent clubs might not have a test for, like the bald gene in Manchesters.

a Labrador retriever maybe but not a Labrador. those are usually one color, retrievers have cream, chocolate, and black and white for standard. that puppy doesn't quite look like a retriever but they may be, I haven't seen a baby one in years lol

in this situation bc I seen the dog posted on the breeders page and read all the information they shared. I don't think they are a backyard breeder. I also don't think the dog is mixed is there more testing that should be done idk. Also if I had to explain something a millon times I would get snappy with people too.. I think it's just a weird mutation that happened. In my opinion the parents should be bred again to see if it pops up again bc if it does somethings going on. If the dog comes back 100% lab the parents are 100% lab and shown in conformation it could be something weird that popped up

honestly, I kinda get the breeder for being grumpy 😆 getting a pb lab pup in that color would definitely be a shock! and then dealing with all the questions 🫣 been seeing that pup come up so often! (no idea about the ethics behind that breeder though, haven't looked into it)
