@seekingyah: Day 280 of reading the Bible in a year 📖✨ Matthew 8 and Mark 2 show Jesus healing, forgiving, teaching, and calling people to follow Him. Again and again, we see people coming to Jesus with faith—and Jesus responding with compassion and authority. In Matthew 8, a man with leprosy approaches Jesus and says: “Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.” — Matthew 8:2 Jesus reaches out and touches him, saying: “I will; be thou clean.” — Matthew 8:3 Then we see the faith of a Roman centurion who believes Jesus can heal his servant simply by speaking a word. Jesus is amazed by his faith. “Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.” — Matthew 8:10 Jesus continues healing the sick, calming a storm, and demonstrating authority even over demons. But Mark 2 gives us another powerful example of faith. A paralyzed man is brought to Jesus by four men. When they can’t get through the crowd, they make an opening in the roof and lower their friend down in front of Jesus. Mark says: “When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.” — Mark 2:5 Jesus then heals the man physically, showing that He has authority to forgive sins. What stands out to me is that this man’s healing involved other people who refused to give up on him. They couldn’t get through the door. So they found another way. They didn’t allow the obstacle to stop them from getting their friend to Jesus. Then Jesus calls Levi, a tax collector, and simply says: “Follow me.” — Mark 2:14 And Levi gets up and follows Him. These chapters remind me that faith isn’t always quiet or comfortable. Sometimes faith looks like: 🙏🏽 Approaching Jesus when you’re hurting. 🙌🏽 Trusting Him even when you don’t know how He will respond. 💪🏽 Refusing to let obstacles stop you. ❤️ Helping someone else get closer to God. 🚶🏽♀️ Leaving the old life behind when you’re called to follow. And I love that Jesus repeatedly shows compassion to people others might have overlooked. The leper. The servant. The sick. The demon-possessed. The paralyzed man. The tax collector. Jesus saw people differently than the crowd did. Matthew 8 and Mark 2 remind me that faith isn’t about believing that everything will happen exactly the way we want. It’s about believing that Jesus has the authority, the compassion, and the power to do what we cannot do ourselves. Keep bringing your needs to God. Keep believing. And don’t let the obstacles make you turn around. 🙏🏽❤️ What stood out to you most from Matthew 8 and Mark 2? 📖✨ #BibleInAYear #Matthew8 #Mark2 #Jesus #Faith
