@taori_dev: The Most Terrifying Spider In Fiction — There Is No Antimemetics Division

Snakefruit :

I remember this story well. The colleague who was unaware of the monolith was Moreno, a new trainee in the department. Marion Wheeler, a veteran in the Antimemetics Division, gave her a tour and shared hidden history, including forgotten wars that no one knew existed. Upon reaching a massive wall, they realized the monolith was actually a giant tombstone inscribed with writing from an ancient civilization. During the tour, Moreno spotted an antimemetic spider that even Wheeler could not perceive. Moreno was so naturally gifted at seeing through antimemetic anomalies that she inadvertently drew its attention, dying on her very first day. As Wheeler fled, she wondered how anyone could beat an entity that constantly devours the best among them, only to forget everything that had happened the moment she left.
