@emmanuel_p.m_: Hurricane Isaias continues to strengthen, with max sustained winds of 80 miles per hour. Storm surge, high winds, and the threat of tornadoes will be experienced far north of the Tampa Bay region. Here on the Suncoast, we can expect rip currents on Saturday with breezy conditions as Isaias passes hundreds of miles west of us. The possibilities of high tide and rough surf are not out of the question, which can prompt small craft advisories for our area. The storm is currently moving east-northeast in the central Gulf at 9 miles per hour, then is expected to make a sharp turn north by Friday early morning. It may strengthen to a low-end Category 2, then interact with wind shear upon making landfall, which may weaken it to a tropical storm as it crosses over land. It will race toward the northern parts of the Gulf Coast, aiming to make landfall near and around the Mobile and Pensacola region Friday night. Western portions of the Panhandle of Florida are also facing an increasing threat of tornadoes. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted the western counties of the Panhandle with a slight risk of severe weather potential for Friday evening and Saturday afternoon as Hurricane Isaias churns onto land. #florida #alabama #hurricane #isaiaslucero
