In my experience. People that went to welding school think they’re going to get on a job site and do nothing but weld. Usually not how it works

im a welder at a shipyard, did welding in HS in 2018-21, went to work on towboats for like 3 years, now working at shipyards, as a welder im just getting my time and skill in with stick, and wire, then gonna go somewhere better since I have better experience

Very true Unless you get to do it in high school for free it’s great at learning the very basics and it gets you going but in the field compared to the school it two different things.

Never ONCE have I ever been asked for certification from a weld school. Always “here root and cap this” . U perform or u don’t. Save ur money and buy a machine and practice in ur driveway

Hi. My son went to welding school and the market is flooded with new welders. Unions do not return calls or emails. And it’s who you know. Pretty frustrating to watch him go through all of this

It’s easy to weld pipe with the perfect fit up in a booth. It’s not easy to weld a badly fit joint that’s slammed against the wall

I was told nit to hire anyone from tulsa welding school rather hire people that have shop experience. I hired around 10 people from welding schools and he is extremely correct tgey ask for top pay with no real job experience that my lead welders would be extremely upset they had to train again and they had attitudes saying they new what they were doing 💯 just to fail xray every time

I went to a welding school for like 8 months I think? Walked out with a bunch of certs. They spent the whole time telling us we were gunna ge jobs at 30 and hour and all this crap. Then acted surprised when students came back complaining that no one was paying that.

My partner goes to welding school for free and hasnt paid a single dime 🤷♀️. He gets to practice for free on an expensive machine 🤷♀️.
