@brianjenga_: Part 49: Director vs. Technical Director In high-end television environments, "Directing" and "Switching" are two completely separate roles: The Director (Vision & Rhythm) Does not touch physical switcher buttons. Sits back from the desk to maintain a macro view of all camera inputs. Responsible for storytelling, pace, shot calls, and headset comms ("Ready Cam 2... Take Cam 2. Cam 1, push in tight on hands"). The Technical Director / TD (Physical Execution) Listens exclusively to the Director’s verbal cues. Keeps hands anchored over the switcher bus to execute cuts, wipes, keyers, and macro triggers instantly. Manages frame synchronizers, signal conversion, and technical routing behind the scenes. The Solo Operator Reality (Church & Small-Scale Production) When one person acts as both Director and TD, you must automate execution to free up mental bandwidth. Build pre-set macros for complex graphic overlays and keep your primary hand anchored over the Cut button so your eyes can stay locked on the MultiView. #director #church #behindthescene #churchmedia #Broadcasting
