@virevayogaandwellness1: If you’re new to yoga, here are a few things we wish more people knew before walking into their first class. 1. Let go of expectations. Your practice does not have to look a certain way to “count.” You don’t need to touch your toes, nail every pose, or keep up with the person next to you. The whole point is to pay attention to what’s happening in your own body, not perform for the room. 2. It’s okay if you don’t know the poses. Seriously, nobody expects you to walk in knowing what Warrior II or Chaturanga means. Look around, follow the teacher, take a second to figure it out, or skip something completely if you need to. Yoga is judgment-free, and everyone in that room was a beginner at some point. 3. Work with the body you have today. Not the body you had last week. Not the body you wish you had. The one you showed up with today. Your energy, strength, balance, and flexibility can change from class to class, so give yourself permission to adjust instead of forcing something just because you did it before. 4. Find the rhythm of your breath. You don’t have to master some complicated breathing technique right away. Just start noticing your inhale and exhale, especially when a pose gets challenging. If you realize you’re holding your breath, gripping your jaw, or getting frustrated, that’s usually your cue to soften a little and come back to breathing. 5. Have fun and say hello to the person next to you. Yoga does not have to be this super serious, silent experience. You’re allowed to wobble, laugh, fall out of a pose, and try again. And saying hi to someone before class can make the whole room feel a lot less intimidating. The biggest beginner tip of all: stop waiting until you feel “ready.” You do not need to get more flexible first. You do not need to practice at home first. You do not need to know what you’re doing first. You just have to show up. Save this for your next class or send it to the friend who keeps saying, “I want to try yoga, but…” 👀 #YogaForBeginners #YogaClass #CreatorSearchInsights #buffalony716 #healthandfitnessmotivation
