@olesyaluraschi: If things feel harder for you than for other people, you might not be wrong. About 1 in 3 people score as highly sensitive (Lionetti et al., 2018, Translational Psychiatry). I’m honestly so overstimulated and exhausted, thinking I have to medicate myself till the rest of my life just to feel alright is depressing. Yes, we are useful for ourselves and others but the expense of internal peace

I haven’t responded to my friends in days I’m so overwhelmed and just thinking about apologising before I even respond to their messages overwhelms me even more. I feel bad of course but I just don’t have the energy

I learned about orchids and dandelions in my clinical psych class. My professor is a clinical psychologist (sees patients and teaches), she importantly noted that orchids are sensitive to their environment, meaning a bad environment can really suppress them, while a good positive environment can really help them flourish. they’re on either extremes. dandelions are the people who are kind of unphased by anything. while they may seem resilient in bad environments, good environments don’t do much for them either. It’s prob best to be a tulip, but each type has their own benefits. I think if orchids can somehow get to a good environment and learn resilience skills while they’re there, they could flourish and do amazingly. Sensitivity is sometimes a gift.
