We were in Saint Augustine and decided to stay a couple extra nights because we had friends that lived there but they had other guests coming so we went online real quick and we were able to rent for three extra nights in Airbnb reasonable price close to them. We got there and it was clearly somebody that just needed some fast cash because you could smell that everything in the apartment had just been sprayed with some kind of sanitizer. The bed had just been smooth because you can tell the difference between a freshly made bed and when sheets are just smooth, and the bed is made. All of their Personal stuff was still in there. They just left a basket in the bathroom for us to put our stuff in and they cleared it off a shelf for our food and the rest of their half eaten food was in the fridge. It was disgusting. Airbnb did nothing zero they were like well you know you can’t prove whether it’s actually been cleaned or not. I sent them all the pictures they’re like well it’s fine. I have just gotten the Venmo credit card, which I know people say are terrible. I called them and sent them the pictures. They immediately refunded me and disputed the charge. This is how far the property owner went for two years every eight weeks they would try and recharge me. And it would hit my account and without me even calling Venmo the charge would get sent back. Two years this went on. No matter how many times I called Airbnb. They wanted nothing to do with it because and I quote “ cleanliness is subjective”. That was my first and last time. But anytime I book through any other company you know I’m talking about I always use that card and that is the only thing I use it for. I am going to find the pictures for you

Your videos have been so helpful to me as a host. Do you have any suggestions for being compensated for smoke damage? We’ve had people smoke cigarettes in our Airbnb, we had to rent an ozone machine and close down our Airbnb for a few days to fix the damage. When we tried to charge the guest for damages, we lost because we weren’t able to provide proof there was cigarette smoke damage. How do you prove a smell? Their animals also ruined our furniture, and we had photo evidence of that so we were able to be compensated for that damage, thank goodness. I just don’t understand how we could prove smoke damage. Any advice you have would be amazing 😊❤️

last saturday we had 2 airbnbs cancelled on the day but support was actually quite helpful already got the refund and some booking credits

I hate Airbnb as a host but VRBO is just as bad. I wish people would book off platform. I used to think Airbnb would be great because if guests break things they'd cover me but you Airbnb doesn't do that, you have to request through the guest first which we can't do so we all just eat the cost and Airbnb makes 25-40k off me a year doing nothing.
