@allcountriesnews: Palestinian History Didn’t Begin With Hamas: Decades of Conflict, Displacement & Occupation... Palestinian history did not begin with Hamas. The conflict stretches back decades, including the mass displacement of Palestinians in 1948 and Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza following the 1967 war. Hamas was founded in 1987, meaning many of the central issues surrounding Palestinian displacement, statelessness, occupation, and self-determination existed long before the organization was created. Condemning attacks on civilians and hostage-taking does not require ignoring the broader history. Accountability should apply to all actors, while Palestinian civilians must not be treated as interchangeable with Hamas. A lasting peace requires protecting civilians on both sides and addressing the underlying political realities that have shaped the conflict for generations.
