@interstellarspac: Black holes can bend light so strongly that light from behind a black hole can be redirected toward an observer. This extreme gravitational lensing is a direct consequence of Einstein’s general theory of relativity. ⸻ 🕳️ Near a black hole, spacetime is so strongly curved that light can follow paths that would be impossible around ordinary objects. Light passing close enough to the black hole can be deflected around it, potentially allowing an observer to see light originating from regions that would otherwise be hidden. ⸻ 👀 So could you theoretically see the back of your own head? In an extremely idealized setup, if you were positioned near a suitable black hole and the geometry were just right, light leaving the back of your head could be bent around the black hole and reach your eyes. ⸻ ⚠️ But this is a theoretical consequence of gravitational lensing, not something a person could realistically experience. You would need an extraordinarily precise arrangement, and getting close enough to a black hole could expose you to enormous gravitational forces and radiation.
