@wasabisushimatcha: Did you know that you need to help orphaned baby kittens go potty?! 🚽😳 This is my former foster kitten, Dumpling! 🥟❤️ (resharing their most popular video 😹) Baby kittens under 3–4 weeks old REQUIRE stimulation to pee and poop, as they haven’t fully developed the ability to eliminate on their own yet! Without proper stimulation, they can develop serious urinary and digestive complications, which can become life-threatening. ☠️ In nature, mama cat would lick their bottoms to stimulate them to go potty. Unfortunately, Dumpling and his surviving siblings were found without their mama, alongside three siblings who had already passed away. 💔 Thankfully, they were rescued, and I had to step in as their surrogate mama! 🥹❤️ A few notes: 1. I’m using a wet wipe, not a dry one! You can actually see it in the first shot of the video. 😊 2. Normally, I’d use slower, gentler movements to stimulate a kitten, but I found that this particular motion worked best for Dumpling. 3. I’m not being rough or aggressive with him! I’m not applying pressure to his body. Only the wet wipe is making contact with the area I’m stimulating. 4. I’m holding him this way so I can clearly see what’s happening. In other positions, it’s harder for me to tell whether he’s peeing or pooping properly. He’s supported, and I’m being careful with him! ❤️ 5. I do stimulate some kittens while they’re standing on all four paws! However, Dumpling was particularly wiggly and kept trying to walk away. 😅 This made it difficult to stimulate him properly, and we’d often end up with pee and poop smeared everywhere! 💩 Every kitten is different, and sometimes you need to adjust your technique based on what works best for them while keeping them comfortable and safe. ❤️ And yes, helping kittens pee and poop is just one of the many responsibilities that come with raising orphaned newborn kittens! 🍼🐱 #fosterkittens #bottlebabykittens #fosterkitten #kittencare
