YouTube pays a fortune for content. They paid out 20 billion dollars for content in 2025.

The biggest problem is that they don't see you as a human people, but only like a source of income.

Just to add to what you're saying Hollywood has another problem of writers regurgitating the same plot line over and over again for decades. I'm tired of seeing oceans 100 or romcoms where she doesn't like him at first but then falls in love in the end. Or movies about writers, actors or directors constant self -grandizing nonsense hollywood keeps turning out

Yeah, you're totally right about the money side of things. TikTok and YouTube don't really pay much for content, but Hollywood pays for art. Movies and TV are our creative art forms, like our modern-day Michelangelo or Monet. YouTube and TikTok, not so much. 😊

Obsession is the only movie in a while that made me forget about TikTok for 93 minutes. And then I went on it immediately after to yap about my feelings.

It’s always funny/tragic to me that the answer is always “pay less” and never “regulate this industry to STOP widespread theft as a baseline”

It’s funny because I was working at a certain company that recently went under this umbrella. And listen to their business leaders have this conversation 15 years ago. And at that time they did this math really clearly they were like we spent X money on content and they spend zero money on content. Our valuation is X their valuation is .. I don’t know 5X at least at that point.

In order to compete with YouTube and TikTok, they should create their own short form platform. Something you can just quickly bite into.

YouTube revolution started with original content, the copyright infringement wasn’t the revolution was what came after that. Right? These platforms just become home for shitposting of the masses… hard to compete with that. Tiktok does pay, not a lot though.
