It was already stated that after the fist gang disbanded, a lot of former members started to fight for power and territory which led to the first generation, meaning there were greedy people in the fist gang, so yeah formers members could’ve betrayed Gap. Also Gap is literally set up to defeat Shingen and he already did so that’s not changing, it’s just as you’ve said, Jibeok controlled the narrative and history to not tell the full story

Gap fist gang did win in the end but, mostly is shingen didn't become depressed because of that, and again he rewrite the history, mostly around elite and not the pre gen war, rewrite history of gap death and gap action in the war which explains why public in lookism didn't like gapryoung

Indeed. I really liked how PTJ included that Gibok manipulated the world into not remembering the first defeat. This makes him as you said a way more mythical character and if the defeat was known to the world I believe that it would make him a lot more relatable to the average person. They would see Gapryoung not as some mythical beast that beat everyone but as someone who even when he lost, beaten down with broken bones faced with the emotional despair of losing so many people by his side that he overcame it. Making his story more heroic compared to the story of he just beat him. Which would in turn make it a lot easier to turn the masses against Gapryoung.

Or this guy has some kind of magic power that allows him to alter memories. We already know that there are multiple systems like the one that gave Suhyeon and Choyun their quests, and that the System itself was given quests by other systems. Gibok could have some abilities and be the "Great Evil" that the System mentioned in the last chapter of Questism. Cuz why would someone that powerful, who can perform magic tricks, need someone else to defeat a "Great Evil"
