@thenfldrop: The New England Patriots are set to retire the jersey #87, most notably worn by Rob Gronkowski. Current Patriots #87 Romeo Doubs will find a new jersey number before Sunday’s game. Rob Gronkowski is a retired tight end who played nine seasons for the New England Patriots (2010 to 2018) and later two for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was one of the most productive tight ends in league history, finishing with 621 catches, 9,286 receiving yards and 92 touchdowns, and he set a single-season record for a tight end with 17 receiving touchdowns in 2011. Rob was a four-time first-team All-Pro and made five Pro Bowls, and he won three Super Bowls with the Patriots. He retired in 2019 after a run of back and knee injuries, then returned in 2020 to rejoin quarterback Tom Brady in Tampa Bay, where he won a fourth championship. He retired again in 2022. Since then he has worked as an analyst on Fox Sports and made appearances in entertainment, including a WWE spot at WrestleMania 36, and he will become eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2027.
