Legend says he stumbled inside and made it to the 17th step before dying, although historical accounts say he actually died on the porch. Either way, his murder became one of The Myrtles’ most enduring stories. 🎺 Louis & Tillie Karnofsky The Karnofskys gave a young Louis Armstrong what he remembered as a second home. He worked on their coal and junk wagons, ate with the family, and they loaned him the money to buy his first cornet.
