We have a big house and our occupancy is 16 because we're on septic and over that we start to risk issues with our system. We don't want that so we have a 16 soul hard limit on our house day or night. Someone tried to have 36 and we kicked them out, Airbnb cancelled the booking but that is it 🤣 so the guest refused to leave and literally had a standoff with the sheriff 🤦🏻♀️honestly since then we've been to afraid to kick people out of our house when they are over capacity 💔 we just deal with the aftermath... and over 16 there is almost always aftermath

We booked a house with 3 bedroom, 3 bath and a sleeper upstairs full house. When we arrived our family drove over to help us unpack so we could go out on the lake. Owner instantly called while we were unpacking 2 SUVs for a 9 day stay (food and all that jazz) saying the neighbors told him we had 7 cars in the driveway and 25 people. We were like I know you gave a camera at the entrance you can't tell there's 12 adults and 2 kids going in and out of the same door? Instant drop from 5 to 4 stars before we even started the week. Yes we listed 7 adults 2 teens and a toddler. It wasn't 9pm either. nowhere near bedtime for him to assume everyone was staying. But 25 was an exaggeration.

Also, you can just communicate with the host. We had people over to our Airbnb in Iceland during the eclipse. I just contacted the host in advance, let him know we respected their ‘no party’ rule and explained what we were planning and letting them know we’d take great care.. they were fine with it.

if you want to have people come over why would they not just ask? It was a hotel (cabin) but me, my mom, and my husband just stayed 2 nights in my Grandma's cabin for my cousins wedding. The owner knew we were coming it's a cabin ready for multiple people. my mom just paid for my Grandma's food and gave her some money for the room. we basically stayed for free and the owner didn't care because my grandma paid for the room.

I had to pass on an Airbnb because we were going to a wedding, i asked my mom is traveling with us but her sisters might stop over for coffee but not staying or spending the night, they said no guest and you know what i did, got another Airbnb. rules are rules.

Granted they should’ve been sneaking people in, but I’m kind of creeped out that there is a camera that is live in someone’s private home while they’re staying there. Again, another reason I would always choose a hotel over Airbnb. If I’m renting and I’m paying you should not be able to put a camera in the living areas, including doorways.
