@americana.pipedream: Meet the Tactical Assault Panel, or TAP. The Marine Corps made it to give Marines a way to carry ammo and gear on the chest. It attaches to the front of the Marine plate carrier. It can also be worn alone as a chest rig with its own harness, so a Marine can take off the heavy armor and keep the essentials close. It is coyote brown and has MOLLE webbing, so each Marine can set up the pouches the way the mission needs. It is a simple design that does one job well: it keeps magazines and gear where your hands can find them fast.
