@loughneagh: Gladys Knight & The Pips - Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye) - 1973 🎵 It's a song about two people who know their relationship is ending, but neither can bring themselves to say goodbye first. And there's a remarkable story behind it. While Neither One of Us was becoming one of their biggest hits, Gladys Knight & The Pips were leaving Motown after seven years. The record reached No.2 on the US pop chart, No.1 on the R&B chart, and earned the group a Grammy. A song about saying goodbye had become part of a real farewell. But it's the feeling in Gladys's voice that stays with you. That moment when you know something is ending, yet there's still a part of you that doesn't want to let go. For some, it brings back someone they once loved. For others, it's a room, a radio, or a time in their lives they can still picture. What memory comes back for you when Gladys sings that goodbye? #GladysKnightAndThePips #NeitherOneOfUs #70sSoul #Motown #MusicMemories
