After years of songwriting and being too scared to release- today, we finally ripped off that bandaid There are many more songs coming- but here’s the first story I’m sharing with you ❤️ Heads up: I always want my listeners to have the option of interpreting their own story of the music and finding their own message in it, so if that’s you- give it a listen first and don’t worry about my personalization of it or why I wrote it. But if you’re curious, keep reading: “Choose to Stay” is a folk ballad about the quiet grief of pursuing a lifelong dream that never arrives when you expect it to. Inspired by years of chasing Broadway while watching opportunity repeatedly slip away, the song explores burnout, identity, and the decision to keep choosing your calling despite disappointment and the lack of evidence that you’re even on the right path. The verses capture the quiet repetition of survival: waking up, getting out of bed, trying to silence the noise in your head. The chorus marks the passing of time—one year, one month, one day… then two years… then three—as hope gradually blurs into routine. Each repetition represents the strange way dreams can feel simultaneously close enough to touch and impossibly far away. Despite the heaviness, this isn’t a song about giving up.
