1.3 mil per year just on doc fees- they pay 45,000 to the clerk to handle those fees. The rest is pure profit

Tomi, I understand why you are posting this and you know this kid can’t defend the doc fee. I miss my old title clerk in finance. She was the best. Saved me a bunch. However, anyone you are actually talking to has no authority to remove a doc fee.

Tommy. You need to consider. Most new car departments have a negative operating profit, and the doc fees and other incomes are what bring it to profitability. If the doc fee is removed entirely, there will be a restructure in the market, and average transaction prices will go up respectively to cover expenses to keep the businesses in the black. Most dealerships are not giant money printers. It’s a low profit margin and most of the profit is from other incomes and fixed operations. Not operating profits from new and used car departments.

Luke Bergey. The car guy. :
What the title clerks get paid has no relevance to the individual deal and really is of no business to customers and even their coworkers. What about the fixed costs of operating? Rent, property taxes, phones, internet, paper, office supplies.

First off doc fee is not even profit on some deals. If a credit union only finances 100% of retail KBB then the doc fee is irrelevant

How much do you charge your clients to broker the deal for them or what does the dealer give you as kick back?

100 cars a month from Tommy x $1000 per deal is 100,000 a month. What is difference is a deal making 100k a month on Doc fee and Tommy making it on services.

Yet this dude charges 1k? Why not charge 200? Help the customer, cause some salespeople get 200 per car.. this dude just gets people to hate on dealerships yet if the dealerships went away he would have no job also.

Do you pay your employees as a percentage each deal or do you pay hourly rate… this is a dumb argument.
