Watch till the end, because what happened outside the Israeli embassy in the early hours of Wednesday has put Serbia on its highest alert. Serbian police say a young man was shot dead outside the Israeli embassy here in Belgrade in the early hours of Wednesday, after what the authorities called a terrorist attack. The attacker opened the door of the guard room and attacked the policeman on duty with a knife. According to media reports, he shouted Allahu Akbar, God is great, during the attack. The policeman, who suffered only light injuries, shot the attacker dead. Few details have been issued by Serbian police about the attacker, who has not been named. But what we know is that he was male, under the age of eighteen, and from the town of Sabac, about an hours drive west of Belgrade. The countrys Interior Minister, Ivica Dacic, has said he was known to be a supporter of the Islamic State. Minister Dacic said he has raised the terrorism threat level to red, the highest level, with more police at key locations across the country. There was a similar incident outside the same building two years ago, when an attacker armed with a crossbow injured the duty guard outside the same building.
