I had similar parents and they also forced me to apply to only random small schools across the country saying that they wanted me “as far from them as possible” and with the threat of not paying tuition (like yours often did). I also believe everything happens for a reason because I met my now husband at that random small school and he helps me keep a healthy distance from my parents. My sibling got to apply to whatever schools she wanted to in state when her time came, and definitely hurt. I’m so in awe of your bravery, but also grateful there’s someone out there that understands the toll parents like these take on you.
