WHO CONTROLS THE IMAGE, CONTROLS THE STORY Look closely at these images. A nose chiseled from the Great Sphinx. Ancient artwork painted over. An Olmec colossal head physically altered. Religious icons removed and replaced. A dark-skinned figure painted over and transformed into a lighter image. These are not simply changes to stone, paint, or buildings. They remind us of something much deeper: When you change the image, you can begin to change the memory. And when you change the memory, you can influence the story. For generations, powerful institutions have had the ability to preserve history, destroy evidence, rename places, rewrite narratives, and redefine how ancient people are portrayed. But truth does not become false because someone painted over it. “For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.” — Luke 12:2 (KJV) You can chisel a face. You can repaint a portrait. You can remove an icon. You can rewrite a textbook. But you cannot permanently erase the truth. The Most High sees what man attempts to hide. “For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV) And there is another warning we should never forget: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness.” — Isaiah 5:20 (KJV) That means we must learn to question what we have been shown, not because every theory is true, but because every claim deserves examination. We should study the artifacts. Study the archaeology. Study the original records. Study the people who created them. Study who altered them, and why. “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (KJV) Our responsibility is not to replace one manufactured narrative with another. Our responsibility is to seek truth. Because truth does not need to be afraid of investigation. And if somebody tried to erase the image of our ancestors, then let us have the courage to recover the history, not through hatred, but through knowledge. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” — John 8:32 (KJV) **History may be altered by human hands.
