@mikumul: Severe El Niño-induced dry weather conditions have pushed water levels at the Sirinumu Dam down to a alarming 53 per cent capacity. Even more alarming, officials confirm the reservoir volume is dropping at a rate of 10 per cent every 10 days. --- IF RESERVOIR CAPACITY DROPS TO 20 PERCENT, HYDROELECTRIC POWER GENERATION WILL COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. PNG Power Chief Executive Officer Nehemiah Bayly warned that if dam capacity hits the critical 20 per cent mark, hydroelectric generation from the facility will stop completely. "These conditions are expected to remain difficult as El Niño strengthens towards the end of this year," Bayly confirmed, highlighting the direct impact of the prolonged drought on Port Moresby's electricity grid. It is standard human nature to ignore utility warnings until the light switches stop working, but severe weather patterns require immediate, conscious energy and water conservation from every household. PRACTICE CONSERVATION NOW. PREPARE FOR POWER SAVING. PROTECT OUR ESSENTIAL RESOURCES. #KSMPG #KSMPGReports #SirinumuDam #PNGPower #PortMoresby

What is your solution? The ElNino effect will be around for 2yrs so obviously the water level will definitely go down. The government should urgently refocus it's attention to this very real threat.

Best way is to produce Bio gas to spin turbine or use wind to as a source to power those KVA Gensets and produce electricity.
