@japdmedia26: BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom — A former prison officer and an inmate face sentencing after engaging in a secret romantic relationship involving thousands of messages and explicit photos. Jade Morris, 37, and Jerome Nunes, 35, exchanged more than 5,000 messages via WhatsApp and Snapchat while Morris was working at HMP Long Lartin in Worcestershire. Nunes was serving a 12-year sentence for conspiracy to supply c*caine. The secret relationship was discovered after Nunes threw a sock containing a mobile phone out of his cell window during a search. Investigators recovered thousands of messages, late-night calls, and a letter confirming their intimate relationship. Morris pleaded guilty to misconduct in a public office and encouraging Nunes to use an illegal phone. Nunes pleaded guilty to possessing and using an unauthorised mobile phone. Prosecutor Cathlyn Orchard noted that when officers searched Morris's home, she refused to provide her phone PIN and initially denied contact with the prisoner. Her defense attorney stated Morris was dealing with personal hardship and expressed remorse. Nunes's defense shared that he has since served his initial sentence and started a food business. Judge Peter Carr remanded both defendants in custody ahead of sentencing. #Birmingham #UnitedKingdom #JadeMorris #JeromeNunes #japd
