Yeah he'll still need to go through the pecking order gauntlet with them. I adore my boy turkeys. I hug them all the time and apparently the way I do it has taught them that I'm the big boss in charge, but I'm not competing for the ladies. I stand over them with one foot on each side and reach down and wrap my arms around them and snuggle my face against their faces. I guess in turkey language that's me showing gentle dominance. The girls I hug from the side or pick up, so they don't accidentally see me as a mate.
ANYway, point is, turkeys are my absolute favorite poultry now and I wish I had known how cool they were sooner 🥰
He's a handsome bobansom. I love both your name ideas.

is he still wounded from the dog? my turkeys do not tolerate any weaknesses, if a chicken or whatever bird in the flock, is injured they all jump it 😭 never seen anything like it, they get crazy if blood is drawn

Introducing exactly like you are, with a fence separating (just like chickens) is what I've always seen suggested. When you do decide to let them together, whether that's in a day or two, or in a month, they are still going to squabble, and it can get pretty intense...they will work it out and love each other 🥰🦃 take it day by day, you'll do fine!!

I would physically check him under his feathers for any wounds that could bother him a long time. I had a turkey that got bit by a dog and he had an injury that resulted in inedible meat when we butchered him in the fall a few months later.

Homestead lesson of the day: adding any livestock besides ladies results in extra chaos. You asked for advice. I can tell you with roosters the ladies will establish pecking order but he is very big so things may get erhhmm… intense. They do need to work it out so keep that in mind. And now you’re going to have more next spring or late this fall. Plan accordingly good luck 😁

You said "everyone's up in arms" about turkeys and that made me giggle and think of those videos of cartoon arms on birds. It will work out. 🥰

Keep him separate for at least 2 weeks. And that's totally normal behavior, just go slow.
