Shikiira :
I don't understand this habbit of fans trying to paint their favorite characters as flawless beings that never truly made a mistake in their arcs. That or play off their mistakes and say they weren't all bad. I see this with raiden fans, Dottore fans, and Scara fans. Personally, I'm a fan of all these characters, especially Dottore and especially more so Scara. Yet, I hate when everyone tries to paint these characters so flatly and downplay their narratives. Why can't we let these characters be the individuals they are without having to justify their bad actions or mistakes? Trying to downplay Raiden's mistakes takes away from her arc and her struggle to get over grief. Trying to pretend Dottore was doing what he did for the greater good ignores the selfish and psychopathic extremes he took just for the sake of hos experiments. He's not an anti-hero, he's manipulative, the kind of person who would gaslight you to make you believe he had his reasons. That doesn't make him a bad character, it makes him a great villain that I enjoyed watching and fighting against. And Scara wouldn't be the brilliant character he is in his growth if he hadn't spiraled and pulled all the horrible things he did. Seeing him grow to do better and heal, but never forget the retribution that would soon come is an amazing arc to see. I do believe his secret of being the Balladeer will one day be revealed. Dottore's jab felt like foreshadowing, and the Tsaritsa likely has memories of him stored in her prism.
Again, I will never understand the need to justify the mistakes of these characters. You can still like a character, because they're just that, a character. A character in a narrative that's part of a broader story to be told. I'd rather like a character die all their horrible flaws, than a character that somehow can do no wrong. That's not interesting and it never will be.
