I was 25 and I once said, out loud to a woman “hey can I step in here and help? Are you seriously yelling at a child? She’s 15. She’s a literal child. Talk to me instead” and the woman immediately changed her tune. She needed the reality check.

When I was 16 I called my boss in tears because a customer cussed me out because the gas pump he pulled up to didn't work. She told me to make an out of order sign and tell him to wipe his ass with it 😂 she was the best boss ever and almost 30 years later she is still a good friend.

I’m a regular at a coffee shop and so many times someone who doesn’t know me will be shitty to the staff and then look at me like I’m going to relate. And then they find out I’m not in Team Karen. Like I really wish I haven’t had several occasions to say “why are you bullying a teenager over a latte?” but I have.

Had a guy grab a phone out of my hand and throw it across the store because I was talking to another customer on the phone, I was alone, I was 15, it was a video rental store. The owner sided with the customer because I "should have known better" than to prioritize the caller over the customer in store (even though the call came through 20 minutes earlier). 27 years down the line, I hope both the customer and the store owner drowned in karma

Have worked with a lot of younger employees and I’ve always told them: you don’t get paid enough to deal with abuse, get me immediately (fwiw, I don’t get paid enough either, but I’ll take the brunt of it because I’ve dealt with it enough to know how to handle it)

There was a pricing error on an ice cream order... by 20 cents. The customer threw a massive fit and the owner stood up for his employee ( as he should have ).

I used to manage a crew of about 20 or so kids 16-20 years old. the post is correct, they're children. most have never worked before and their parents didn't teach them anything. they make mistakes. I hated seeing the way the other managers treated them. I was the only one to treat them like people.
