![🚨Ian Wright on Arsenal’s mentality in their 2-1 comeback against Leeds United: 🗣️ Ian Wright: “I was having a conversation with Jamie Carragher at half-time, and honestly, he was giving me a hard time. He looked at me and said, ‘Wrighty, look at your team. Do they even realise they’re champions of this league? Because I’m struggling to see a team that believes it.’ I laughed and said, ‘Jamie, it’s just Leeds, man. Let’s see what happens in the second half.’ But he wasn’t finished. He said, ‘Look at Saka. He’s playing like somebody has covered his boots in cement. He can’t run at anybody, he’s not taking players on, and he looks completely uncomfortable.’ I looked at Jamie and smiled. I didn’t want to say too much, but deep down, I still believed Arsenal could turn it around. Then Leeds scored the opening goal in the second half. Jamie immediately turned towards me and said, ‘Well, Wrighty, what do you have to say now?’ I looked at him and said, ‘Jamie, please, I want to watch football! Let me watch my football. Stop talking to me!’ [ Laughs ] Then Riccardo Calafiori produced that beautiful volley for the equaliser. What a goal! The technique, the timing, the way he connected with that ball — absolutely brilliant. I sat up straight because you could feel the atmosphere changing. Suddenly, Arsenal had belief again, the supporters were louder, and Leeds had to start worrying about defending. Then Arteta made three changes, and when Bruno Guimarães came on, the game felt different. Arsenal had more energy, more aggression and somebody willing to take responsibility. I turned to Jamie and said, ‘Brace yourself, mate. Now sit back and watch football!’ A few moments later, Bruno scored an absolute beauty to complete the comeback. I jumped out of my seat because that is what football does to you. And Jamie? Suddenly, he had very little to say! [ Laughs ] I turned to him and said, ‘Jamie, where’s all that talk about champions now? You were questioning whether these players even knew they’d won the league!’ But seriously, this is what I want people to understand about Arsenal. Champions will have difficult spells. Their best players won’t always perform, and sometimes the opposition will make life uncomfortable. The real test is how you respond when things go against you. Against Leeds, Calafiori provided the spark, Arteta made the changes, and Bruno delivered the decisive moment. That is the mentality you need when you’re fighting for trophies. Of course, Arsenal must learn from that first half. You cannot keep giving opponents encouragement and expect to rescue every game late on. But when the pressure arrived, they found another gear. At half-time, Jamie was questioning whether Arsenal played like champions. By full-time, he was watching those same champions celebrate a 2-1 comeback. Sometimes, Jamie, you have to stop talking and let the football give you the answer!”#Hypic #arsenal #fanbase #PremierLeague #semu](/video/cover/7695063525353426194.webp)
