love you but there's simply no way kids are stopping to think about this while they're decoding. also I'm teaching 3-5 elementary so perhaps we're not your audience.

What is your scripted curriculum? Also, does this transfer into their application of spelling words from their head during independent writing? Ive taught the Orion-Gillingham methodology for 30 years and find that struggling readers and writers/spelling need further explicit teaching on phonic sounds and spelling rules for decoding.
