Hurricane Isaias is forcing people across the Florida Panhandle and the Northern Gulf Coast to prepare after months of unusually quiet conditions. In this video, I travel through the Panhandle and to Flora-Bama, to document evacuations, how people are getting ready, and how past storms still shape the way this region responds. From Hurricane Ivan and Sally to Hurricane Michael, the most recent Category 5 hurricane to make landfall in the United States, this part of Florida has a long memory when it comes to hurricanes.
