True. The eastern part mostly desert and semi arid area. The costal South is volcanic rocky. The majority of the people live in the green area, in the red area the concentration is in the costal Abyan, Lahj, Shabwah and Costal Hadhramout Governorates. I have walked the whole area from Aden to Hadhramout, and what we call the Inner Hadhramout. Yemeni Highland is densely populated all the way to Hajah in the North West. Mareb and AL-Jawf is not as densely populated as the central highlands.

What you don’t know, there was two countries of Yemen, South Yemen and North Yemen, so the people of South Yemen with a red colour, they defend their country, they wanna be independent, people of North Yemen are the Houthi, they back up the Houthi, they don’t want to be ruled by the Southern

The red part is mostly a desert. Some Saudi backed militia are in those areas. They don’t govern people they are just present in some bases funded by Saudi there.
