American workers have been calling this out for potentially 20 years. I pay $100 when you can get the same for $20? Then comes the assumption that each worker both US and foreign have the same skill set. They do not. And, what’s more, the corporations don’t seem to care. Even if they have 40 to 70% of the rudimentary understanding as a US employee; the foreign employee simply cost less.

Microsoft should be forced to lay ALL H1B employees they hired last yr and rehire the the Americans they laid off at their salaries they were earning when laid off, reinstate their benefits and rwtirement. This should be outlawed across the board. No more work visas and no more H1B. AMERICAN WORKERS FIRST.

The larger issue is that large multinational companies already have offices in low-cost countries. Instead of hiring U.S. workers, they can lay off American employees and use those savings to fund the hiring of new employees in their overseas engineering and design centers. That's how they effectively sidestep H-1B and other visa restrictions while continuing to replace American jobs with cheaper foreign labor.
