@theknottygarden: You should know who you’re following 🌸👇 I didn’t always want a big life. I used to want what the world told me I wanted. Advanced education, a well-respected profession, a long career in my chosen field. I had it all, but my life felt like I was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. After nearly seven years of university, a career as a speech-language pathologist, and multiple businesses, I broke the rules and I walked away. Then I showed up as myself. Not the healthcare professional, the educator, the careerwoman. Just Erin. But I didn’t lose my ambition, my passion and the desire to make the world a little bit better. I knew the life that I had wasn’t meant for me and I stopped waiting around for the one that was. It was HARD. My heart has always been in the garden and with the plants and creatures found within. Through my hardest years of a career filled with vicarious trauma, my garden has been my therapy. Sharing it has made me feel more joyful and fulfilled than I could have ever imagined. And it has brought me all of the incredible big-life opportunities that I never would have known. I’ve been on stage and TV more times than I can count. Household name brands have trusted my voice as an industry expert. Best of all, I get messages from people all around the world telling me that I inspired them or that something made them think of me. For the first time ever, I actually feel like I belong. Do I make the same money that I used to? No. Is my value and self-worth still measured by degrees, certificates and awards? Also no. I have found something much better.
