@usatrendingnow99: Crazy Rich Asians Is Returning With Original Stars—and the Sequel Will Be Eight Episodes After years of stalled sequel plans, Crazy Rich Asians is getting a new chapter. This time, Rachel and Nick’s story is heading to HBO. The network has ordered an eight-episode follow-up series, with production set to begin in 2027. Constance Wu and Henry Golding will return as Rachel Chu and Nick Young. Ronny Chieng is also back as Nick’s cousin Eddie, with all three joining as series regulars. And Nick’s formidable mother is returning, too. Michelle Yeoh will reprise her role as Eleanor Sung-Young in a recurring capacity. The reunion also extends behind the camera. Adele Lim, who co-wrote the original movie, will lead the series as showrunner. Director Jon M. Chu and author Kevin Kwan are among the executive producers. For Lim, the longer format means more room to explore the characters and the world of Kwan’s books. For Chu, bringing the team together again “feels like coming home.” The original movie earned $239 million worldwide after its August 2018 release. A theatrical sequel entered development that same year, but repeatedly stalled. Now, the follow-up is moving forward in a different format, with hour-long episodes. There is still no word on whether Awkwafina, Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, or Ken Jeong will return. And 2027 marks the start of production—not an announced premiere date. But the central couple, Eleanor, and several original creative voices are officially coming back. Would you rather see this story continue as a movie or an eight-episode series? #CrazyRichAsians #ConstanceWu #HenryGolding #MichelleYeoh #HBO
