It just takes too long!! I did my homework. Knew the available options. Knew what a good price for the car would be. I love my salesman and knew going in that I was buying a car from him that same day and it still took hours!

The main reason is we have to fight to get a price that may or may not exist. The manufacturer set a price but yall add extras and add labor that you “cant” remove. Then the finance department makes it seem like your dumb if you don’t buy the warranty. Either way, all parties manipulate the numbers so that they make the most profit.

I walked into a Lexus dealer and signed a contract in less than 1 hour. We then sat there for 4.5 hrs waiting to see the finance and take delivery. We wanted to leave and get lunch and they just kept saying “just a few minutes, your next”. 4.5 fucking hours later. This is where hatred starts

You know why. The sales person can’t make a decision and has to go to manager, fact it takes hours to buy a car and the high pressure sales for the extras. Plus the BS clear coat, tinted windows etc that I have to pay for that I don’t want. The fact the advertised price online isn’t accurate. I call a dealership and they just want to get me in person and won’t give me an answer over the phone That’s just a few and why places like Carvana is a way better experience if buying used

Waiting around from rep to manager x3 or more times. Then wait for finance, then wait for car to be prepped. 3 hours wasted. I bought a 2021 GMC from a small Minnesota dealer 2 hrs away. Had trade. Sent photos they called back with fair deal. Showed up next day. 15 minutes in and out the door. Finance guy had bank picked out and I asked if he could use usbank since I bank there. Said sure, hit a few keys on computer and reprinted paperwork. It can be done with competent people. My wife just bought a Nissan and it was three hours…

For me, it is just trying to figure out what I want vs cost. So much time driving from dealer to dealer test driving different cars. They look good on paper but test drive may be disappointing. I bought a vehicle last December and looked at/test drove 15 different vehicles. It's exhausting and frustrating. I ended up buying a 2023 XC60 B5 Ultimate that ticked all the boxes for me. I knew it was the one before I even excited the dealer lot for my test drive. I loved it then and still do. Cars are not cheep so I wasn't willing to compromise on what was important to me.

For me, it’s the total guessing game of how much the car is going to cost me, including all the junk fees and upselling. I can’t think of a single other product that has this mechanism in place before purchase. If the dealer can get me to pay $50,000 for a $30,000 vehicle, they will do this 10 times over. And I can’t stand hearing sales tactics like “we’ll only do this deal for you” or “this deal is only happening today” or “if I do this deal, I could lose my job.”
