My grandpa was 100% blind when he was alive. It used to break my heart, he had never even seen what i looked like. He used to ask me what bills he had in his wallet. My first call on that app was a man asking me what bills he had in his wallet 🥺🥺🥺

Once I finally got a call. I got so excited, but then I realized I didn’t have a bra on. So I was trying to find one really quick and put it on. Then I realized it wouldn’t have mattered and I’m actually a dumbass. 😭

My first call was a woman trying to cook a steak for the first time. Over an open flame. It was a little scary, but we adapted and used some crazy methods. And at the end she giggled and said “I just made steak as a blind person.” And it was amazing.

I got a call one time. I was so excited. A lady dropped a cup and asked me to help her find it. I, like a dumbass, asked her “what color is the cup you’re looking for?” She hung up on me.

My first call was a man trying to catch the correct bus at the stop he was at 🥺 he would ask me what color bus was coming (he could hear them approaching) and when I would tell him the colors he would tell me where that bus was going to…he had memorized all colors/destinations and was waiting for the correct one to pass by. I cried so hard afterwards…

genuine question. as volunteers of Be My Eyes. Would you feel as likely to volunteer for an app that is just for assisting the elderly with general questions and tech questions? by tech I mean VERY simple things like how to turn on the laptop. how to change tv input. or how to use a remote controll. Or maybe even just have a chat. 0-10 how likely would you sign up. genuine research. app is made. we are in testing.
