I just had a patient yesterday that I was doing localized SRP on in my perio office and I could see calc on the distal of two and mesial 31 from the previous x-rays taken in January. so I decided to take a post-op xray lo and behold there is a huge chunk of calculus on the distal of 31 because there was no view of the distal 31 in the x-rays and it was underneath a crown margin. I could not find that for the longest time, trying to feel for that. I ended up feeling it from the mesial distal aspect of it instead of the straight distal and when I finally got it loose it was stuck in there and I had to get it out from the lingual and it was that nice black green color. I'd never been so dang excited in my life and that wasn't even a tooth I needed to scale and root plane.

the funniest part is that they wouldn't even have to if they just properly brushed and flossed everyday.😅 but instead of that they'd rather scale their own calcified bacteria that they don't remove at home

Even told a parent about how we are “rebranding” the term “cleaning” as “maintenance.” Because what we do is more than just cleaning the teeth. We are working to make sure we are maintaining the health of your mouth.
