“I need to call my wife, I just really feel like I’m going to die tonight” I thought he was just having anxiety about his cardiac procedure tomorrow so I tried to calm him down and talk with him bc it was 2am and his wife was asleep at home and he would see her in a few hours before surgery anyways. He ended up going into V-fib 20 minutes later and we had to code him on the floor for over 30 minutes. He never got to call his wife and I feel fucking terrible about it to this day. That was 6 years ago and I’ll never forget him, he was the sweetest man too.

Not a nurse, but in 2012 my mom had lung cancer that spread to her bones and brain and she couldnt even form words anymore and was in a hospice facility and had stopped eating and drinking and wouldn’t wake up so they called me and told me they think it was almost time so when I went to say goodbye she suddenly woke up and said “Jackie is here to get me” Jackie is my dad who passed in 2005. 🥹

a elderly man had heart surgery. he had woken up a few hours before and I stopped in to see how he was feeling. He mentioned that a little girl was in the room with him name Clarissa who was there to guide him home. he said he was ready to go home and had a message from the little girl. she says hi Daddy. then he went into cardiac arrest. we couldn't save him with all the effort we made. Clarissa was the name my wife and I chosen for our daughter she was carrying. they both passed away before she was born. no one at the hospital knows about her or that I was married once.

Not a nurse but my 4yo daughter was in a car accident with her Father and 6yo brother, who both passed. About a week later she told me she knew why she survived and they didn’t. My little 4yo said it was because girls are made of wood and boys are made of glass.

My mom was in the hospital with cancer. Me, my brother, and my kids walked into her room and she asked us who all the other kids were? We said, it’s just us, no one else. The nurse overheard us and she mentioned to us (not my mom) that the floor she was on used to be a children’s cancer floor 😳🥺😢

There was an ICU patient that was not mine, nor had I ever been in her room. She was acting crazy, restrained, yelling looked scary. Her nurse joked that she was literally possessed. As I walk by the room, she is contorted, in a backbend, barely on the bed laughing. And in a very deep male voice she says “Tiffany. I know you…I know all about you. Mwahhahahah.*** Hissssss/grown”. I refused to go in there even if she coded[Laugh approved][Laugh approved][Laugh approved]

My dad had glioblastoma and he told us 7 mem were in the room. We never grew up religious and me and my mom looked at each-other and thought the 7 horse men and questioned what he did in the military. He also said his mom was theres months before passed. And she had passed a year and a half before that. He said some real creepy shit but that i will not share.

I’m a Peds nurse and asked a patient what he was most excited to do when he got to go home. He said “play with my nana”. I thought that was super cute but his mom looked horrified. And then my patient proceeds to say “she comes down out of the ceiling to play with me”. Mom then informs me nana passed away a long time ago 🫠🫠

One of my favorite patients, who was doing well, called me into his room to tell me goodbye right before shift change at the nursing home. He said, “ I won’t be here tomorrow and I want you to know how much I love and appreciate you”. I tried to assure him that he would be there tomorrow and that I would come see him as soon as I got there in the morning. He told me he wouldn’t be there because he was going to die before I got back the next morning. We cried and hugged and said our goodbyes. As I was walking in the next morning, his son came out of his room and said, “I think he just died”. I rushed into his room and he had in fact just died

i’m a pct at a local hospital i took care of this lady that just changed her code status, 100% declining fast. i’m getting a set of vitals and she looks straight at me “your moms been following you around like a guardian angel hasn’t she” i looked at her so damn crazy. thinking back on it my life was in a very dark place. to add my moms been dead for 10 years now. i never mention things like that to my patients. i think of her often actually.

A resident kept telling me the music from the kids band was keeping her up at night. For three months she would say this. She ended up passing away and a new resident moved in. A week after he moved in he told me he was tired and didn’t sleep well. I asked why didn’t you sleep well? He said because the kids in the band kept him up with their music. 😳

Had a double leg amputee patient as a new grad on night shift. He was down at the end of the hallway on isolation, so no other people just me at night. I rounded at 3:00 and every single cabinet was open in his room and it wasn’t like that 2 hrs ago. He was awake so I asked him who did that and he said the lady is always looking for her purse and can never find it.

When I worked bedside, I had a patient on comfort care. I got report that she was hadn’t spoke at all the previous shift and it could be anytime, we were just making her comfortable. I went in to turn her and she looked a me, squeezed my hand and said “I gotta go home now” and went to the afterlife. It was WILD!

We had a room where every patient who would get admitted there would die. It was a 3-person streak! The last person was a gentleman in fairly good health, but he was recovering from a knee replacement. The night he was admitted, he was telling me about how nervous he was being there, I did my best to calm his nerves. When I came on shift the next day, he’d had a heart attack and died overnight. The call light in that room would go off randomly once it was vacant for about a week.

I’m not a nurse but I went to visit my grandma at the nursing home. I took my little cousins to the fair before going to visit her. There was an old lady in a wheelchair chair that was always at the door trying to escape. She looked at me and screamed “That girl is always taking those damn kids to the fair!!!!!!!” I had to skedaddle.

I took care of a man who was passing, he kept trying to get out of bed, saying his brother was outside waiting in his truck to pick him up. His wife came in & asked how he was doing I told her he’s been anxious trying to get up, keeps saying his brother is outside waiting in his truck. She started bawling, & said his brother has been passed away for years & he did drive a truck, he passed away 3 days later

Not my story, but a coworkers. Patient fully alert and oriented. Kept insisting needed to change rooms because there was a ghost in his. Patient begins to scream bloody murder. Blanket was pulled off of him and up under the bed. Patient was not physically able to do it and no one else was around.
