NEW INFO: An MPD officer fired his gun after a teenager committed an armed carjacking and struck a squad car. The 16 y/o suspect tried to carjack someone but the driver of the car drove away in fear. The suspect then carjacked a different driver and drove from the scene in the stolen car. The suspect fled the area on foot, but officers were able to take him into custody. He was then transported to an area hospital for evaluation. Two officers received minor injuries, both are expected to be ok. The officer who fired their weapon was not injured. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
