in Egypt we have something similar not as magnificent but much older cemeteries, it began with the burial sites of some of the blessed familly of the prophet pbuh who resided in Egypt after Karbalaa , many scholars ,sultans , Mamlooks n famous n regular Egyptians preferred this closeness to Al El Bayt n were buried there ( includung the Egyptian scholar Warsh who has the famous reading of the Quran.
