Brandon, we as teachers ask these questions everyday. We cannot deny any child. We cannot unparent bad parenting. We are seeing more and more extreme behaviors and earlier ages. Districts are afraid of parents and parents are afraid the kids. Teachers are not mindless fools. Our hands are tied and we are frustrated. We want discipline. We want to protect the other kids but the law protects students like this. It’s not right. Something needs to change.

when my daughter was in 4th grade (just 2 years ago) a student threatened people every single day. It actually started when they were in 3rd grade but got worse.This kid threatened every single day NOTHING and I mean absolutely nothing was done. Ask me how I know.... I worked at the school. I was the ISS teacher. my daughter was in a couple of classes with the student. She heard the threats first hand. He threatened her one day, he stated I'm going to kill your whole family and I am starting with your mom. Even after finding out about it I went to admin and nothing was done. he isn't going to do anything. He was being raised by his grandparents and they would make excuses for him. Yesterday 10/7 there was at threat at our middle school and my daughter was terrified I let her stay home today. She is already dealing with enough stuff in her life I didn't want this added. It wasn't the same kid and thankfully after 4th grade his grandparents decided to home school him.
