@kalinakintv: 🚨 PENSACOLA REMEMBERS SALLY… AND THE GULF COAST KNOWS WHY EVERY UPDATE MATTERS. 🌀👀 If you were here for Hurricane Sally, what’s the one thing you’ll never forget? On September 16, 2020, Sally came ashore near Gulf Shores as a Category 2 hurricane with 110 MPH sustained winds, bringing devastating flooding to the Pensacola area. Here’s a wild piece of hurricane history: Sally made landfall on the SAME calendar date as Hurricane Ivan—exactly 16 years later, along the same stretch of Alabama coastline. Another detail that catches people off guard? Sally was moving forward at LESS THAN 5 MPH around landfall. The hurricane’s winds were violent, but the storm itself was crawling, giving the rain more time to pile up. Parts of coastal Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle received 15–30 INCHES of rain—that upper end is TWO AND A HALF FEET of rainfall. Downtown Pensacola experienced 2–4 feet of freshwater flooding in places the storm surge didn’t even reach. Those numbers explain why longtime locals pay attention long before the weather looks dangerous outside. Every storm has its own track and threats, and yesterday’s experience can’t replace today’s forecast. 📲 FOLLOW MY PAGE and turn on notifications for the latest official forecasts, local alerts and evacuation updates as they come in. Share this with your Gulf Coast people, check on your neighbors and follow local emergency instructions. Were you here for Sally or Ivan?
