Miss Lily began showing symptoms late Monday night. She kept pressing her belly down and kept repositioning. But something felt different this time. She looked very, very uncomfortable. She kept squinting her eyes and you can tell she was in a lot of pain. We got into the vet early Tuesday morning. X rays showed that she had quite a lot of food and fluid in her stomach. This was super concerning because Lily was about 12/13 hours out from eating any food. It wasn’t normal and it indicated something was very wrong. We took her to a vet that was able to hospitalize her. There, we discussed some options. We started with medical management. That being to try and get things moving with medication. This was more of a non-invasive way to get things moving. She had a decompression procedure done on Tuesday evening to remove the fluid out of her stomach. This was successful. However, the fluid came back hours later. This indicated it could potentially be a physical body blocking her GI tract. When in for surgery, they found it was an intestinal entrapment. From our vet directly: A tear was found in her mesentery, located by her bladder and colon. The origin of this is unknown. This could have been congenital or during her spay. Loops of her intestine had slipped through this mesenteric hole and became twisted. This caused a strangulating obstruction that prevented passage of food, water etc. Because of this, there was no incision made to her GI tract. This is as a way better outcome as it prevents a big risk for infection. The tear has been sutured up and she is recovering well!! She is a fighter. She was taken in Tuesday morning and came back this Thursday evening. My little girl is so strong and I am so proud of her. We love you, Lily. I truly thought that day was the last time I would have seen you. I knew this wasn’t the end for you. I prayed and prayed and I know Cookie was with you in that operating room. I’m so grateful you’re on the road to recovery ❤️‍🩹. We have a long road, but I know you will overcome. You are my warrior girl ❤️🐰 #bunniesoftiktok
