1. Adam smasher was already suffering from cyberpsychosis before he did the famous job where he was hit with a rocket and all that’s left was his brain and some spine which allowed arasaka to turn him into an engram. 2. Adam smasher is an engram and engrams can’t suffering from cyberpsychosis because their entire neural processes are being run through a chip. Like how V never goes psycho because all their cyberware and neutral processes are running through the relic. It has NOTHING to do with sense of self it is a 100% a final fate for anyone with anything more than the basic chrome required for living life in night city confirmed by Mike himself in an interview. For example maelstrum loves chrome so they should be safe from going psycho cause they don’t consider themself a human but they have the highest psycho rate out of any of the gangs in night city. Hell it’s such a well known fact of life that even corpo contracts include clauses that allow them to ditch you when it happens not if but when.

Isn’t cyberpsychosis just regular emotional stress made potent because of cyberware? Like most cyberpsychos were already in bad states of their lives (David experienced his mothers death and the sandy puts heavy strain on his body, and he chromed up way too fast)

cyberspycosis isnt nessaserally a real thing tho. expleined in verse to be a unknown thing that happens sometimes to borged out induviduals. but they dont need to be borged. and some borged out ppl are fine

Iirc, cyberpsycosis is a side effect of not just getting chromed out, it’s having chrome that had been previously used, because each cyberware has memory from previous users, and the software clashes with the user’s mind. If you use brand new, fully wiped chrome, it’s less likely to happen.

In canon (ttrpg) decrease of humanity depends on the number of implantation procedures. So if you implant 20 implants in one procedure its less risky then 20 procedure. 👌

it's also about your mental state before chroming up. little known fact, but johnny silverhand was a cyberpsycho before his death. he only had his cyberarm and a few rudimentary implants, but because he was already such a broken individual he snapped very easily. it's probably how adam smasher was able to be such high functioning with that much chrome, because he likely had some underlying mental disorder.

Nope. Arasaka is feeding blockers to adam smasher so he doesnt go cyberpsycho. Furthermore hes what they call a functional cyberpsycho due to him being a sociopath. Arasaka just lets his basically “vent” by massacring whoever he wants while killing for arasaka.
