If the Sabbath is not specifically a day for worship but a day to be kept holy, then the question is: how does one keep a day holy, and where does the New Testament define that obligation for Christians? Sabbath keepers often criticise Sunday worshippers for worshipping on the “wrong day.” But if the issue is keeping the day holy rather than choosing a day for worship, why is Sunday worship criticised on that basis? We need consistency. Are we debating the day Christians gather to worship, or whether New Covenant believers are commanded to observe the seventh day as holy? Those are two different questions, and neither should be settled by assumption.

😂 Ecclesiastes 12:1 says, "Remember your Creator," not “Remember the Sabbath day.” The context is a call to remember God before old age and death approach. Connecting this verse to Sabbath-keeping requires an additional argument that the verse itself does not make. Exodus 20:8 explicitly says, “Remember the sabbath day.” Ecclesiastes 12:1 does not. We must distinguish what a verse actually says from what we want to connect it to. Remembering our Creator is one thing; proving that this verse commands New Covenant believers to keep the seventh-day Sabbath is another.
