Here’s our full review for the HatchingTime Flock Right Coop! Overall, the coop went together fairly easily, and I really like the EcoFlex composite construction. It feels much sturdier and more durable than the thin wood commonly used on prefab coops, which was one of the first things that stood out to me. The locks on the nesting boxes also feel very sturdy and well made. There are a few areas where I think some small changes could make the product even better. The biggest improvement I would suggest is with the assembly instructions. Labeling the different screws and hardware would make the process much easier. It would also be helpful to add arrows or markings showing which direction certain panels and pieces need to face. We had a couple of instances where we assembled a section, realized a piece was facing the wrong direction, and then had to take it apart and rebuild it. From a predator-safety standpoint, I personally would not recommend using the coop as the only line of defense against predators. I think it is best suited to being placed inside electric poultry netting or another secure run. That is how we plan to use ours. I would also recommend using it in a covered run when possible. There are a few gaps where I could see wind-driven rain potentially making its way inside during heavier storms. Some additional weather sealing in those areas could make the coop more versatile for people who intend to place it in a fully exposed location. The roost bars are also fairly narrow. I think they would work particularly well for bantams and smaller breeds, but a wider roosting surface would probably be more comfortable for larger standard-size chickens. For our farm, we plan to use this coop primarily for our meat chickens inside electric poultry netting. It will probably be used for meat birds for around 8–10 weeks of the year, and during the rest of the year we plan to use it as a hospital coop or brooder coop within that protected area. Overall, I think the construction material is one of the strongest features of the coop, and I can see several good uses for it on our farm. Most of my suggestions are relatively small changes—clearer assembly labeling, some additional weatherproofing, and potentially wider roost bars—that I think could make an already useful product even better. #hatchingtime #brooder #coop #chickencoop #farmlife @Hatching Time
