Amex did the same to me. Shut off my Platinum, Gold, BCP, Sky Miles Reserve, and Marriot Bonvoy Brilliant….literally have a 837 credit score, NEVER HAVE MISSED A PAYMENT, been with Amex for 4 years…do you understand how pissed I was…AND THEY DID IT WHILE I WAS OVERSEAS….needless to say I’m not with Amex anymore

I've been an Amex card member since 1980. It says it right on my card. "Member Since 1980" 46 years and I've never been suspended or had a financial review.

If Amex did this to me, they can keep their cards. I’m not releasing my tax returns or bank statements to them. If paying $895 a year for platinum & $650 for the reserve isn’t enough for them, then so be it.

AMEX did the same to us!!!!!! they brought our spending limit from $42k to only $7k!!!!!! we spend over $20k a YEAR with them!! we have over 200,000 points with them! WEVE BEEN WITH THEN SINCE 2016!!!!!! after this, we're just done with AMEX. get your self the Capital One Venture. ✨️bye bye American Express.

Hi - Financial crimes pro here 👋🏽. Despite what they’re telling you, something likely triggered it - Multiple payments in a short period, unusual spending patterns, sudden increases in spending, etc. can all be triggers. It doesn’t necessarily mean you did anything wrong. I’d submit whatever documentation they’re requesting. If they ultimately decide to close your accounts, make sure you ask about transferring your points before you lose access to them.

It’s because you don’t carry a balance. This is recession indicator 101. I used to work for a couple of major banks and credit card companies. They want you to carry a balance, use the cards because it’s how they make their interchange fees and interest.

The thing is, Amex doesn’t even make most of their money from interest fees. They make most of their money from transaction fees to the merchant, so people who actually spend on their card it would be dumb for them to cancel their card.

I work in banking, they are lying, something triggered it, they aren’t randomly suspend peoples cards or accounts for no reason. We keep it as general as possible when someone who has a hold on their account, we don’t want to give any indication of what actually is going on.
